About Keith Ward
Keith Ward is Professor of Music and Director of the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.In June 2018 he completed twenty years of service as Director of the School of Music at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, where he also was Distinguished Professor of Music.
In the field of academic leadership he has been active as a writer, reviewer, panelist, workshop facilitator, accreditation evaluator, and, from 2012 through 2014, a member of the Commission on Accreditation for the National Association of Schools of Music(NASM). As a pianist he has appeared in concerts on artist series, college campuses, and radio as a soloist, chamber musician, or vocal accompanist. In essays, reviews, critical editions, presentations, and publications, his scholarship has focused on Arnold Schoenberg and Charles Ives, American piano music of the 18th and 19th centuries, pedagogy and teaching, leadership, and musical responses to HIV/AIDS. He currently is Immediate Past President of The College Music Society, having served as The Society's President in 2017 and 2018, and President Elect in 2016.
